EVENT: Zero-Waste Community Training Program

Calling all Intramuros stakeholders who are part of the Solid Waste Management Task Force! You are invited to participate in the Zero-Waste Community Training Program to be held at Fort Santiago AVR on Saturday, September 7th from 9am to 1pm.

To be facilitated by Mother Earth Foundation (MEF), this Train-the-Trainer session aims to focus on how having a zero-waste goal is essential towards the implementation of a Solid Waste Management Program. MEF is a non-stock, non-profit NGO operating in the Philippines for 20 years. They are actively engaged in addressing waste and toxic pollution, climate change, and other issues. As the organization behind the success of Zero-Waste City of San Fernando, Pampanga, they were able to decrease the percentage of trash that goes to their landfills from 88% to 20% for the period of 2012 to 2018. To date, MEF has Zero Waste models in three other cities in the Philippines – Malabon City, Tacloban City, and Navotas City, and is also working with the province of Nueva Vizcaya, which is composed of 15 municipalities.
