It's getting hotter by the day and it's only a few days away till April, which means summer is just around the corner. But before you plan your road trips and hit the beach, you might want to add another thing to your to-do list.
The Intramuros Open Cinema will have an outdoor film screening of the Cinemalaya documentary Honor: The Legacy of Jose Abad Santos on April 6 and the award-winning musical Ang Larawan on April 7 for free at the Puerto Real Gardens. Screening starts at 6 p.m.
You can book your free tickets online through the Facebook event page for the Honor: The Legacy of Jose Abad Santos screening and the Ang Larawan screening. All you will need—aside from your movie buddies, of course—are your mats, blankets, or your inflatable sofas to keep you all comfy.
Honor: The Legacy of Jose Abad Santos tells the story of the titular Chief Justice through interviews with historians and his descendants. It also features articles written by his son Pepito, as well as official documents during World War II.
Loy Arcenas' Ang Larawan, which stars Paulo Avelino, Joanna Ampil, and Rachel Alejandro, is based on Nick Joaquin's play, The Portrait of the Artist as Filipino. It follows a family struggling to pay for their expenses as their artist-father struggles with painting.
Aside from the screenings, there will also be an open market at the venue starting 10 a.m., so you can spend the whole day lounging around and having a picnic before the films start showing.
This is in partnership with the Philippine World War II Memorial Foundation & Culturtain Muscat Productions, Inc., in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Intramuros Administration. This is also supported by the @oldmanilaecomarket.
