The Intramuros Administration, in collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy in Manila, and Felta Mutlimedia, Inc., opened the iMake History Fortress at the Baluarte de Santa Barbara, Fort Santiago last March 19, 2018. The facility is the first history-based LEGO Education center in the world.
The event also staged the awarding ceremonies for the winners of the iMake History Fortress Architecture Scale Model Competition. A number of universities and colleges in the country submitted scale models of prominent Intramuros landmarks to promote the built heritage of the Walled City.
The adaptive reuse of the Baluarte de Santa Barbara will serve as a venue for visitors especially the youth fort hem to discover how Lego materials can be used as a model for architecture/building, early engineering, history, and incorporating computerĀ programming such as the Philippine eagle on display made from Lego materials with robotics.
The University of Santo Tomas won first place for their Lourdes Church and Convent scale model that also won the Most Innovative Entry. This was followed by the Don Bosco Technical College in the second place for their depiction of San Nicolas de Tolentino Church. The third place wen to the National University for their version of the Sto. Domingo Church.
